I was able to do the 180 degree middle split when I was a child.
Before I knew it, I couldn’t do it.
I started stretching, believing that it’s not too late even I’m around 40.
Yesterday was the memorable first day!
I want to make my body more flexible.
When I realized it, my body had become stiff.
I remember doing 180 degree splits when I was a child.
This was no dream, right?
I remember doing splits on the sofa and proudly showing them to my parents.
I don’t remember exactly how old I was, but I think I was probably in elementary school.
Even after growing up, I would stretch occasionally, but only occasionally.
It’s pretty clear how stiff I became as a result.
To be honest, I don’t have any special feelings about making my body more flexible.
I have no experience in sports that need flexibility, like gymnastics or ballet.
I just have a vague wish to have a more flexible body.
However, I ‘ve always wanted to do it since I was younger, so I thought I’d give it a try.
Fortunately, I’m healthy enough to do stretching, so it’s just a matter of whether I can continue or not!
Since I had the chance, I decided to record it on video as well.
What should I do and how long should I continue?
How many days will it take for me to be able to open my eyes 180 degrees?
What should I do before that happens?
To be honest, I thought that if I wanted to be able to do a 180-degree split, I should just keep doing it every day until it felt good.
But when I searched online, I found that there are a lot of different stretches.
There are so many YouTube videos of daily stretches.
Even after watching those, I still thought, if I eat every meal with my legs split on the sofa.
If i do that, I think I’ll eventually be able to do a 180-degree split.
Too many stretches.
To be honest, I don’t know which one is best.
So I searched for “180度開脚” — means Middle Splits in Japanese on YouTube.
And choose the stretch that came up first every day.
I think it depends on the individual how many days it takes to be able to do a 180-degree split.
But many articles say it takes about from 2 weeks to 3 months.
It’s December now, so by the time the cherry blossom buds start to swell in March, my legs will be fully spread.
I’ll do my best.

What I learned from researching leg-splitting stretches
I had always thought that being flexible equaled being healthy, but doing a 180-degree split doesn’t necessarily mean you’re healthy.
I learned this when I was researching split stretches.
In the first place, the structure of the human body is such that a 90-degree leg split is enough.
A 180-degree leg split is dangerous because it may stretches the ligaments more than necessary.
Well, even though I’ve read these information, I still want to do it, so I’m going to do it.
However, I’m going to try not to push myself too hard.
I’m going to stop stretching every day when it hurts so good .
Appendix – I’m researching jobs I can do on my own.
I am thinking of starting a side business and making a profit from it before I start my own business.
The conditions are as follows.
- Can be done as a side job while continuing your main job
- Can be done alone
- Easy to start
So what exactly will I do?
I’m an engineer , so I’m thinking about development, programming.
It’s the easiest way to get started with learning new skills (money and time), and I like making and creating things.
I’m thinking about game development in particular.
I have also looked into my company’s side job rules.
Although there are some conditions, side jobs are permitted, so as long as I follow the rules, it seems fine.
In Japan, some companies or lots of companies prohibit side jobs. I’m lucky.
Now I’m researching how to develop games.
Specifically, I’m trying Unity, but it sometimes crashes on my old Mac Book Pro… Very sad.
I have no choice but to develop on Windows.
If I make a profit from my side job, I’ll use it to buy a Mac Book Pro!
There are many other things I want to buy.
Ultimately, I want to make enough profit to make it my main job, not a side job.
